The word of God
Text: 2 Kings 22: 8-9a: And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. And Shaphan the scribe came to the king and brought the king word again.
When King Josiah began to reign in Israel, he was just a boy and did not know the Law of God. Many years later, they found the Book in the temple and brought it before the king. Hearing what was written in the book, the king humbled himself and repented. He decided in his heart to fulfill everything that was written. The Bible tells us that he pleased the Lord by doing everything correctly.
How many of us would not also like to live righteously and please the Lord?
Every day we try to govern our lives in the best way, but without the correct references that God gave us in His Word, that will be impossible. If we are not interested in the Bible, how can we please God? Is it possible to achieve this without knowing him personally?
King Josiah’s story well illustrates how we can proceed. Josiah did not know the Word of the Lord, but when he found it, he considered it valuable. He heard it and quickly repented. He humbled himself and obeyed it.
