The wages of sin is death.

Text: Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

There is always a payback for every action and inaction of man on the earth. According to our devotional text today, which says “the wages of sin is death,” we conclude that when a man sows the seed of sin, he’s meant to reap the harvest of death. Isn’t that tragedic? I supposed it is!
By nature, every human being deserves death because we were conceived and born in iniquity according to Psalms 51:5. Little wonder we can see destruction sicknesses and many others, which are some of the weapons of death almost in every facet of our world.
But the good news is in the second part of the text: but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
As sin brought judgment, sicknesses, war, famine, destruction, emptiness and so also did God through our Lord Jesus Christ offer us the better gift; eternal life

How can we obtain eternal life?

God has made the   provision for us to be free from  the wages of sin through His Son, Jesus Christ, but there are some essential things we need to do to access this gift:

  1. You must believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Lord and that the Lord raised Him from the death (Romans 10:9).
  2. Confess your sins to Him and be willing to forsake them.
  3. Accept Him by faith into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior. There is no other person that offers this gift of eternal life except Jesus. Therefore, the best good you can do for yourself is to accept Him.

Note: Now that you have accepted Him, you have crossed over from death to live

Father, I thank You for the gift of salvation You have made available for me through Your Son. I confess my sin today and forsake them. Please deliver me completely from the wages of sin. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen!
