Beware of judgments
Text: Matthew 7: 1-2: Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
In our text this morning, Jesus is warning us to beware of judgments. What is the measure with which you judge the mistakes of others? Is it the same one that you use with yourself? Are you so fond of finding other people’s fault, and paying little or no attention to your own errors? Jesus warned that many times we look at the speck that is in another person’s eye, but we do not realize that we have a whole beam in our own eye.
We must learn to distinguish between what is true and what is not. Before looking at others we need to examine our own hearts. We need to always consider if we are also not guilty of the same thing we are condemning others for. If so, we need to change and let go of our mistakes before helping someone else to change.
Beware of hypocritical judgments:
- Acknowledge your sins before God and ask for forgiveness
- Ask Jesus for help to change your life and leave sin
- Instead of condemning others, show forgiveness and mercy

Lord Jesus, forgive me for judging other people unfairly. Please help me recognize my own sins. I want to live in a pleasant way for you, without hypocrisy. Teach me to treat people with mercy and forgiveness just as you do with me. Amen.
