You can overcome your depression
Text: Psalm 91: 1-2: Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.
David went through a lot of difficult times in his life. He had to face beasts, the giant Goliath, armies, King Saul, and even got to be persecuted by his son, Absalom, but in all of this, he learned to overpower his depression by not giving in to the circumstances surrounding him, but rather trusting in the Lord.
And we, what are the attitudes we commonly reveal when we go through difficult phases? Do we lose sleep? Are we discouraged and frustrated? Are we desperate?
David reveals in this psalm a completely different attitude. In the face of great difficulties, facing severe problems or threatening enemies, he rested in God. David’s heart overflowed with peace and security because he fully trusted the Lord who has control of all things. This is how he managed to sleep in peace.
