Topic: Faithfulness amid trial and temptation
Memory verse: The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; Psalm 34:19.
Text: Job 1:22; “In spite of everything that had happened, Job did not sin by blaming God.”
Job was an example of a good and righteous man in the bible. His faithfulness was so evident to God and men so much that God himself could testify of him as a faithful man. But there came a time for the total allegiance of Job to the Lord to be tested.
The story of Job clearly reveals to us that we can maintain our Faithfulness to the Lord amid trial and temptation.
Job was allowed by the Lord to be afflicted by the devil, which leads to complete loss of all he has labored for in his entire lifetime, including his children. The account of Job’s life is a true reflection of a total loss and sorrow.
Amid trial and temptation, there is a high potential of denying God.
I have heard a woman who lost her daughter calling God a wicked God, and all sort of names. Yes, they might not be intentional, but the situation beyond their power overwhelms their judgment and conviction about God. But in the case of Job, he remains faithful under trial and temptation.
Even God Himself could testify of how amazing this man was, who had lost it all without any reason, or fault, yet still standing firm in the Lord.
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”(Job 2:3)
What temptation or trial are you passing through presently? Never allow that to cause you to ill speak about God, or to forsake Him. That season will not be forever- it is just for a short time. But how you respond to it counts a lot.
I was talking with one of my converts in the Republic of Benin last year of her not coming to church again, and her response to me was “since God also refused to take away her sickness, then she also decided to deny Him”. But unluckily for her, during this time of deserting the Lord, she had one of her finger amputated in the account of the same sickness. Then I asked her, who is at lost- you or God?

Are you challenged with sickness, lack, pain, sorrow, or rejected? We all have our share of that at one time or the other. Remain steadfast in the Lord like Job.
Never mind what the people around you will be saying, so much that they will be poison your mind to sin against God like the wife of Job intend doing (Job 2:9).
Hear what the word of God says in the book of James 1:12 ” Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Amid that trial and temptation, sift your attention away from what you are passing through, and focus only on Him who can justify you.
God is greater than your challenges, and He is faithful to challenge everything that’s challenging you if your faithfulness to Him did not waver. I pray for you reading this that the Lord will challenge everything and everyone causing you trouble in Jesus name
